Old Ephraim

"Old Ephraim" was a common slang name for grizzly bears in the 1800s, but in my homeland of northern Utah, Old Ephraim is a legend. Standing about 9'11" tall on his hind legs, the massive bear haunted northern Utah and southern Idaho for over a decade in the early 1900s, killing large amounts of livestock. The man who succeeded in killing the grizzly bear, Frank Clark, recorded the terrifying experience of meeting the creature. Since then, tales of Old Ephraim are told each year around campfires. This art piece serves as a bit of a tribute to my homeland of northern Utah.

In the captivating art piece titled "Old Ephraim," a majestic grizzly bear takes center stage against a profound black backdrop. The bear, rendered with remarkable detail, commands attention with its powerful presence and captivating gaze. Its fur, meticulously etched into the glass canvas, captures the essence of the grizzly's wild and untamed nature. The play of light and shadow on the glass surface enhances the depth and realism, creating an almost lifelike representation.
